The River Route
This spectacular 3 hour hike takes one down from the “homestay” at Protea Ridge over the Nqothwana Stream which passes below the premises and meets the Msikaba River at “Roman Pools” about 2km upstream from the river mouth. From here, this breathtaking hike follows the contour, once again along a goat path, all the way along the escarpment above the Msikaba River for several more KM until one cuts back inland due to another gorge and stream which feeds down into the Msikaba River. From here back inland and eventually up the Protea Ridge. A splendid morning or afternoon spending roaming the contours above the incredible Msikaba River.
